My Quest for Wellth - Episode 6: The vegan food revolution led by Moby and Lou Oates

My interest for vegan food, animal rights and music led me to Moby, musician, activist and founder of the vegan restaurant, Little Pine, an “effortless vegan” bistro, in Silver Lake, Los Angeles, that serves 100% plant based, organic, delicious dishes.

As Moby explains: “Little Pine exists for two really simple reasons:

1-as a place in our neighborhood for our friends to have wonderful vegan food.

2-as a way to generate money for the animal rights organizations we love and support.

(as 100% of our profits go to animal rights organizations.)

And I did and here I met Lou Oates, the Executive Chef of the restaurant. At the age of 23, Lou decided to make a change in her life and realized she could vote with her fork and really make a difference with more compassionate food choices.

We had a very interesting discussion, everything from how she became a vegan chef to how she develops the recipes together with Moby, from where they source the organic ingredients, the business challenges of running a vegan restaurant and the amazing vegan community.

What makes this restaurant unique is not only the amazing delicious plant based food, everything from french toast, lemon pancakes with coconut whipped cream, to vegan juicy burgers, but mainly the fact that they donate 100% of the profits to animal rights organizations.

“Little Pine is an extension of my beliefs, so I have decided to donate 100% of the restaurant’s profits to animal welfare organizations…Opening little pine was never meant to be a conventional entrepreneurial endeavor. I want it to represent veganism in a really positive light, and also help to support the animal welfare organizations who do such remarkable work.” said Moby for

The restaurant also has a very nice retail section with art and books, curated by Moby himself. Moby's vision was to create a space that includes various aspects of society that he cares about, such as veganism, organic food, community, architecture and design.
